Thanks to guest artist Jane Kramer, students at the OAISD Careerline Tech Center were able to create paper from garlic mustard, an invasive species harvested during an Ottawa County Parks service-based workday. Following the paper-making process, students created ink and block printed plant species on the paper they made.

Jane Kramer shows students how to blend garlic mustard to create pulp for paper making.
“It’s imperative to know the best way to remove each plant in order to avoid spreading seeds and cause further growth. Some plants also require a permit from the DNR for harvesting and transporting.”
